Securing the Future

This afternoon, we had a meeting with Jane and the Dreams and Aspirations group at The Annexe to share our ideas for the project: “How can we attract more youths to The Annexe Communities and effectively showcase local murals and effectively showcase local murals and art pieces?”. The purpose of this meeting was to find volunteers who could take on the project and sustain it in the future.

The Dreams and Aspirations group is a friendly and supportive community, and they are genuinely interested in our proposed solution. During the presentation, we explained our 3 different ideas and how they could engage younger people. However, we realised that most members of the Dreams and Aspirations group were not familiar with the Geocaching app. After we explained and demonstrated its functionality, they gave us positive feedback (with a big round of applause and thumbs up), making it easier for them to understand the concept of our ideas.

The Meeting Outcome

Fortunately, the Dreams and Aspirations group decided to sustain the project together instead of assigning a single person to continue it. They were enthusiastic about the Geocaching idea and expressed their willingness to contribute to its maintenance. In response to their feedback, we agreed to keep the Geocache box inside the Annexe building.

One important aspect that we did not cover in the meeting was how to sustain the Geocaching app in the long term. To set up the Geocache at The Annexe, there is a need to apply on the Geocache website. To address this, we plan to write documentation outlining the steps for The Annexe and the Dreams and Aspirations group to apply as one of the destinations in the Geocaching app. This way, the community can have a clear guide on how to manage and update the Geocache effectively.

Apart from the meeting, we continued to focus on developing the project website and designing the poster to share our project. As the project comes to an end, we are happy to see the Dreams and Aspirations group take charge of and continue the Geocache project, showcasing local murals and art pieces while attracting more youths to The Annexe Communities.
