As Dream-Cachers, we are the Echoes of The Annexe, amplifying its untold stories and Hidden Treasures. Our mission is to bring these wonders to life, fostering a shared narrative that showcases the unique vibrancy of the community. Join us, and experience The Annexe like never before.
Get StartedThe Annexe is a community-led charity to improve health and wellbeing of the Partick community, by fostering social connections and bridging gaps in the government’s support system for vulnerable people in the community.
Annexe Cafe serves fresh, healthy, and affordable food, open to all, with a three-course lunch deal for vulnerable residents, using surplus supermarket food, and hosts celebratory meals throughout the year.
Partick and Thornwood Ideas Fund is a Scottish Government-funded Participatory Budgeting initiative allowing residents to decide on community spending through grants, overseen by Annexe Communities' steering group.
Social Prescribing project offers personalized pathways for improving health and wellbeing through one-to-one sessions, social interactions at the cafe, and diverse group activities, ideal for enhancing health and increasing social interaction.
Younity Project, funded by The National Lottery Community Fund, aims to connect Partick's local organizations and individuals, sharing resources, knowledge, space, expertise, training, and volunteering opportunities for mutual benefit.
This section highlights the challenges currently faced by The Annexe.
The stereotype of The Annexe as a space mainly for the elderly and those with long-term health issues deters younger people from participating in its diverse activities and projects.
The limited awareness about The Annexe's local murals and art pieces reduces public interest and engagement.
This section showcases the solutions to the challenges faced by The Annexe.
We propose implementing Geocaching, a public treasure hunt! We will use the Geocaching app to guide geocachers to The Annexe building. As geocachers reach The Annexe, they will discover a Geocache box, which serves as the hidden treasure. Inside the box, they will find meaningful items from the Annexe.
We plan to incorporate plaques with short descriptions of the murals. To learn more about the mural, all they need to do is scan the QR code on the plaque, and they will be able to listen to a one-minute audio recording revealing the captivating story behind the mural.
"Throughout this project, we take great pride in the meaningful journey we embarked on, driven by our determination to create a positive impact in the community.
We demonstrated deep empathy by understanding and valuing the perspectives of all stakeholders involved.
With the help of this approach and productive meetings with our client, we skillfully identified the core challenges and successfully developed unique and effective solutions.
Among our ideas, the concept of Geocaching stands out as a unique and engaging way to attract more youths to The Annexe Communities.
Geocaching, a modern-day treasure hunt, serves as a motivation to bring people together while generating a sense of excitement and curiosity as they venture into the community to discover its hidden treasures.
Through gamification and leveraging technology, Geocaching encourages young people to step out of their comfort zones, explore their surroundings, and learn the stories behind nearby murals and art pieces.
Seeing our client, the Dreams and Aspirations group at The Annexe, embracing and committing to sustain these proposed solutions fills us with immense joy and pride.
We are truly pleased to have contributed to this significant project, leaving a lasting legacy of inspiration and connection within the community."
