In 2004, three final year art students, David Gray, Jazz Gray, and Geraldine Greene, approached the community with a project idea. They wanted to create colorful panels for the Annexe, a community space, through a coloring in the community project. They secured £10,000 funding and volunteered their time for the project. The Annexe gladly accepted the offer, as it provided an opportunity for different community groups to design and work on the panels.

Originally, the plan was to tie the panels with the development of Mansfield Park, allowing them to be movable. However, as the project progressed and ideas came from the community, it was decided that the panels should remain a permanent part of the Annexe.

The panels were designed by various groups and individuals, each with a unique theme. Panel 1 depicted local street scenes where some of the children in the group lived. Panel 2 supported the Sunflower Café, now known as Annexe Café, and symbolized efforts to brighten the community. Panel 3 showcased the growth of Partick over the years through community members' perspectives. Panel 4 was a memorial for Margaret Condon, designed with an angel-like motif, honoring her memory. Panel 5 incorporated Gaelic influence with tiles made by children from the local school. Panel 6 represented the hands of the community members involved in creating the panels, with handprints of various sizes reflecting the age range of participants.

These panels have been admired over the years and inspired others to undertake similar community projects. Even tourists from Japan were captivated by the creativity and took photos of the panels. Special appreciation was given to Angie Doyle, the cleaner at the time, for her efforts in keeping the Annexe clean from clay dust during the project.
